Vietnam battling hoof-and-mouth outbreak

The latest outbreak was reported in central Quang Ngai province, where 19 cows were found to be infected.

Vietnamese agriculture officials say hoof-and-mouth disease has been detected in nine provinces during the past three weeks

The latest outbreak was reported in central Quang Ngai province, where 19 cows were found to be infected, the Voice of Vietnam radio reported Tuesday. Fifty cows were also found to be infected in Nghe An province.

Bird flu has been reported in 10 provinces in the past three weeks and two provinces are dealing with outbreaks of blue ear pig disease, the report said.
